Our Early Years class is run by dedicated experienced practitioners, who have an excellent understanding of what children need to become successful learners. Our learning environment comprises of a classroom and an extensive well developed outdoor area which children can access all day, every day.   We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.  This consists of the 3 prime areas of –

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
    (Managing Feelings and Behaviour, Making Relationships, Self- confidence and Self-awareness)
  • Communication and Learning
    (Speaking, Listening and Attention, Understanding
  • Physical Development
    ( Moving and Handling, Health and Self Care)

And the 4 specific areas of learning which are –

  • Mathematics
    (Number, Shape Space and Measure)
  • Literacy
    (Reading and Writing)
  • Understanding the world
    (People and Communities, The World, Technology)
  • Expressive Arts and Design
    (Exploring and Using Media and Materials, Being Imaginative)

The children learn through their play and activities are provided that are tailored to an individual child’s specific interest or need.    We work closely with parents to develop the whole child and ensure that their first experiences of school are positive.
